    Ik heb ervaring met chloortabletten. Tijdens een tienertour treinreis naar Griekenland (3 dagen in de trein!), had ik chloortabletten mee. Het drinken van water uit de kraan werd afgeraden, maar ja als je dorst hebt en de minicar komt niet meer langs... Dus 1 tablet per halve liter water, schudden en laten staan. Daarna gedronken en de rest van de reis chloorboeren moeten laten (maar niet ziek geworden). Kortom, het werkt wel, maar je mond smaakt naar het peutergedeelte van een binnenzwembad.

    Is nu - onder de naam Dust Bowl 2.0 - weer helemaal actueel: Dust storms + drought = Dust Bowl 2.0: Arizona hit by back to back dust storms July 24, 2012 – PHOENIX — A dust storm, or haboob, enveloped the greater Phoenix area in a cloud of yellow-gray blowing dust on Saturday night. The dust storms are becoming more frequent. For the second time since Saturday, a dust storm muscled its way into the Valley, just in time for the afternoon commute. National Weather Service meteorologist Charlotte Dewey said the storm was moving northwest and was first spotted between Eloy and Tucson. The dust storm covered cities in the metropolitan Phoenix area such as Scottsdale, Gilbert, Mesa, Apache Junction, Santan Valley, Chandler, Casa Grande and downtown Phoenix. There were no official estimates of its size, but Dewey says spotters estimated it was around 2,000 feet tall. She says there were also reports of 35 mph wind gusts in the area, and a report of a 50 mph gust at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport.     @ spechtje Kun je niet van binnenuit bij dat water? En zo nee, is het dan geen optie om er een tuinslang in te hangen met een eenvoudige elektrische of handpomp? Valt in elk geval minder op dan sjouwen met emmers.

    Dat valt teveel op, inderdaad. Om dezelfde reden - en om het feit dat Gimli en Legolas alle MRE's opvraten - heb ik de hele Fellowship of the Ring de tent uitgezet; je ziet ze nog net beschaamd de brug afrijden.

    OK, helder. Misverstandje dus. Maar doe er de volgende keer dan wat van die smilies bij, dan is het duidelijk dat het niet serieus bedoeld is.

    Ik begrijp daaruit dat je een wapenvergunning hebt. Maar waaruit concludeer je nu precies dat ik droom van vuurwapens? Ik heb als voormalig sergeant-instructeur zo ontzettend veel geschoten dat ik vuurwapens als vrij gewoontjes beschouw. Met andere woorden: ik geil er niet zo op als jij - en dat lijkt me een heel gezonde houding, want een vuurwapen is niets meer dan een stuk gereedschap, een middel tot een bepaald doel. O ja, de Uzi is een ontzettend slecht wapen. Staat doorgeladen volledig open voor de zanderige buitenwereld, heeft grove richtmiddelen en is onnauwkeurig op praktisch elke afstand boven de 25 meter. Dat je die blikken rommel aanhaalt als voorbeeld, zegt wel wat over je expertise.

    De eerste keer dat mijn dochtertje de Enge Leeuw op z'n plank met wieltjes bij de Teletubbies zag, vond ze ook erg spannend. Zelfs zo spannend dat ze spontaan het kleed onderpieste. Zonder respect: vuurwapens wensen 'voor de heb' omdat je het 'erg spannend' vindt klinkt ongelooflijk kinderlijk.
